CFMEU WA

The alarming rate of suicide amongst construction workers is a national tragedy. Until the advent of MATES in Construction little was being done to re-address this issue. The fact that MATES has tailor- made a system of help and support structures to help prevent deaths in our industry has made a tremendous difference. The CFMEU WA is proud to support the MATES programs, we see first-hand how they help construction workers to identify those at risk and to provide on-going support at a critical time. Awareness has been raised, practical ways of how to help workmates in need has increased, workmates especially men are talking more about their problems in the process helping to stop little problems become big, insurmountable ones. Most of all lives have been saved.
