The Martin Medal

In 2021, a new recognition called the Martin Medal will be awarded to a young Queensland construction worker(s) under the age of 25, who has done something extra ordinary in helping a Mate who is struggling or/and has helped created a mentally healthy workplace.

The Martin Medal is created by Professor Graham Martin OAM and his wife Mrs Jan Martin. Professor Martin has been a warrior in suicide prevention in Australia for over 30 years. He was also an inaugural board member of MATES in Construction QLD/NT and helped guide the development of the MATES program.

This award is perpetual and may be awarded to more that one recipient in any given year. It is presented at a MATES event during Mental Health week. Generally this would be the MATES Charity Lunch.
