Enel Green Power Australia
Enel Green Power Australia recognises the practical
challenges linked to psychosocial risks within the
construction sector. The company acknowledges the
importance of being aware of mental health and working to
eradicate the associated stigma. The MATES in Construction
initiative operates a comprehensive framework designed to
heighten awareness, cultivate resilience, and establish
connections between members of the workforce, and
provide optimal assistance where needed. Central to this
program is training aimed at increasing understanding of
mental health matters and preventing suicides.
Across our project sites, our primary goal is to establish an
environment that is safe, secure, and productive. We’re
working towards this by initiating conversations
surrounding mental health and suicide, thus nurturing an
atmosphere of support, and understanding. At its core, the
MATES in Construction program embodies the concept of
"mates taking care of mates." It stands as a poignant
reminder for us all to regularly check in with each other and
remain vigilant for signs indicative of mental health
challenges.
It's important to note that MATES in Construction goes
beyond offering a helpline and case management. Its
essence lies in empowering our workforce to adopt a
proactive role in supporting each other's mental well-being.
The initiative highlights the significance of standing by our
colleagues during both good and challenging times.
