WHY MATES in Mining EXISTS

Research has indicated a decrease in suicide rates since the inception
of MATES in Construction in QLD when compared to other states that had
not yet adopted the program. MATES in Mining therefore adopted the
MATES program and is approaching 15,000 people who have been
general awareness trained, opening discussion and reducing
stigma, enabling workers to offer help to others.
