Finding our True North: MATES Livingworks True North Conference 2020

MATES' staff from across Australia and New Zealand came together in January 2020 to bring into focus our 'true north', our mission. Livingworks and Converge staff ran MATES staff through their paces to sharpen ASIST skills and to remind us of the importance of self-care not only for ourselves, but to keep our energy and motivation at optimum levels to do our jobs effectively.
This was an opportunity to compare our roles, which are wide and varied; management, case managers and field officers, research and development staff, along with administration and marketing staff. All MATES staff are ASIST trained, and we all make connection with workers who may be doing it tough on a daily basis.
True North reinforced our motivation to continue providing the best possible training and support toward reducing stigma and preventing suicide in the construction, mining and energy industries.
