Lacing Up for a Cause: MATES Joins the City-Bay Fun Run in Adelaide

This September, MATES in Construction SA is hitting the road for a powerful cause – and we want you to join us.

We’re proud to be part of the iconic City-Bay Fun Run in Adelaide, and we’re rallying teams across the industry to take part in raising awareness and funds for suicide prevention in construction.

Why We’re Running?

Every year, we lose more than 190 workers in our industry to suicide. That’s more than a statistic – it’s a tragedy.

By running (or walking!) in the City-Bay, we’re standing together to say:

  • You are not alone.
  • Mental health matters.
  • We all have a role to play.

The funds raised through Team MATES will go directly toward life-saving peer support, training, and on-site mental health programs across South Australia.

What’s the City-Bay?

The City-Bay Fun Run is one of Australia’s largest and most beloved fun runs, covering 12km from Adelaide’s CBD to Glenelg beach. It’s an incredible community event that brings thousands of people together every year – and this year, we’re running with purpose.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Register and Join the MATES in Construction SA Team and run solo or start a team with your mates.
  • Every dollar raised goes toward mental health and suicide prevention programs for construction workers. Set a goal, tell your story, and get your network behind you.
  • We’ll be sharing training stories and photos from our MATES runners in the lead-up to the event. Got a beard, a mullet, or a reason you're running? Let us know – we’d love to share your journey.
  • Sign up and raise funds, earn your team shirt, and wear it proudly on the day.

What’s Happening on the Day?

We’ll be there to cheer you on from start to finish! The MATES SA team will have a marquee at Glenelg, where you can meet the crew, snap a photo, grab a drink, and celebrate your achievement.

Whether you're in it to race, stroll, or show solidarity – your steps help bring mental health support to worksites where it’s needed most.
